Microchips are NOT GPS devices!

"A microchip is a radio-frequency identification transponder that carries a unique identification number, and is roughly the size of a grain of rice. When the microchip is scanned by a vet or shelter, it transmits the ID number. There’s no battery, no power required, and no moving parts. The microchip is injected under the loose skin between your pets shoulder blades and can be done in your vet’s office. It’s no more invasive than a vaccination." -AKC

Microchips can be a wonderful tool in helping lost pets get back to their owners but only if you register your pets chip and keep the information updated!! This can be done through the company that made the microchip or you can register your pets chip here as long as you have the microchip number 💜🐾

**"Have you found a pet?? Take them to a vets office or animal control facility to have them scanned for a microchip! Make sure the person scans the entire pets body as chips can migrate over time.

If the microchip ends up being a dead end, meaning it was never registered or the owner didn't update their contact info, try contacting the Microchip Hunters for help
